After a hiatus of more than two years, the “Superbowl of pickleball” — the Margaritaville USA Pickleball National Championships — returns to the Indian Wells Tennis Garden next week with 49 courts, more than 2,200 players and $90,000 in prize money. Many — but not all — of the top names in American pro pickleball will be competing, including Tyson McGuffin, Lucy Kovalova and Matt Wright, and Leigh and Anna Leigh Waters. New this year are three championship courts, up from one for the 2019 edition.
