TODAY – May 11, 2022, Mr. Guney- the Mayor of Pickleball - appeared for his Second Criminal Advisement in the case of People of Colorado v. Arslan Guney, case number 22CR1657 – otherwise known as #GoofUpGate.
The Mayor of Pickleball and the City of Denver reached a Settlement Agreement with the following conditions:
1. Mr. Guney will pay one-half of Denver’s estimate to remove his Sharpie marks and to re-screen and coat the entire gymnasium floor, which Denver estimates to be $4,672.29, to Denver on or before June 1, 2022.
2. As part of this Agreement, on May 10, 2022 Mr. Guney submitted a written apology for his actions to the Denver Department of Parks and Recreation.
3. Denver agrees to reinstate Mr. Guney’s membership to all Denver Parks and Recreation Centers and Facilities as it existed before March 15, 2022. Mr. Guney agrees to dismiss his Notice of Appeal of Denver Parks & Recreation Citation, Code Violations, Notification of Change of Membership Status, Indefinite Suspension and Exclusion of Arslan Guney and Request for In Person Administrative Hearing which he filed with Denver on March 29, 2022 within five business days of this Agreement being fully executed.
4. Denver agrees to recommend to the Denver District Attorney’s Office that no criminal charges be filed against Mr. Guney related to his placing Sharpie marks on the gymnasium floor of the Central Park Recreation Center on March 14, 2022.
Today – the Denver District Attorney’s Office rejected the criminal filing of Felony Criminal Mischief, the Case was Dismissed and Mr. Guney’s Arrest Record was sealed.
