APP Wacky Weekend and TOC Fantasy Draft Preview

Inaugural Girlfriend Corner: A Candid Look into the Pro Pickleball Scene

In a surprising new addition to the world of sports commentary, Girlfriend Corner has made its debut appearance, offering an unfiltered and often amusing perspective on the pro pickleball circuit. Hosted by none other than the podcast "NML Pickleball Podcast" the Girlfriend Corner segment invites listeners to gain insight into the thoughts and experiences of Alyssa, the girlfriend of one of the podcast's hosts.

During Episode 4, listeners were treated to Alyssa's candid take on the Professional Pickleball Association (PPA) tournament in Seattle. As a newcomer to the sport, Alyssa's frank opinions provided a refreshing perspective on some of the aspects that have long been taken for granted within the pro pickleball community.

One of Alyssa's primary grievances centered around the ticket pricing for the PPA event. With her engaging sense of humor, she recounted her shock at discovering a $38 charge on her credit card statement just to watch the Pro Qualifier for singles. Despite her willingness to support her partner's endeavors, Alyssa's frustration was palpable as she pointed out the seemingly disproportionate cost for a weekday viewing.

"I mean, even the sponsors in the booths aren't even there Wednesday," Alyssa quipped, adding that the Wednesday qualifiers seemed to target friends and family more than genuine fans of the sport.

Alyssa's commentary didn't stop there. She also questioned the inclusion of lower-level matches, particularly the 3.0/3.5 brackets, on the same stage as the pros. With a sharp wit, she questioned why a Pro Tour event was featuring games that deviated from the high-caliber play fans were eager to witness.

"I don't go to a Blue Jays game to go watch a little league game in between," Alyssa humorously stated, highlighting the need for better allocation of court space and a more seamless experience for spectators seeking to watch their favorite players in action.

While the candid commentary from Girlfriend Corner might raise eyebrows, it also presents an opportunity for the pro pickleball community to consider their events from a fresh perspective. Alyssa's takes, albeit light-hearted, underscore the potential for improvements in ticket pricing, court allocation, and the overall spectator experience.

As the podcast audience eagerly awaits the next installment of Girlfriend Corner, one thing is certain: Alyssa's unfiltered views will continue to provide a unique vantage point on the world of pro pickleball, bridging the gap between passionate players and their equally passionate supporters.
