Teen Phenom Anna Leigh Waters Continues Pickleball Dominance
At just 16 years old, Anna Leigh Waters has established herself as the dominant force in professional women's pickleball. Over the past two years, she has amassed an incredible 33 singles titles against the world's top players.
Since September 2021, Anna Leigh has faced off against rival Lea Jansen in 14 consecutive finals, defeating her each time. Their gold medal clashes have taken place at tournaments across the U.S. in California, Utah, Texas, North Carolina, Arizona, Florida, Washington and Ohio.
Against Catherine Parenteau, Waters holds a commanding 12-1 head-to-head record. Their title matchups have occurred from coast to coast, including Arizona, Nevada, Texas and Ohio.
Waters won her first pro title in August 2021 at age 14, showcasing her prodigious talent and dedication. She has since racked up victories at a stunning rate.
Despite her young age, Anna Leigh has already conquered the pro pickleball world. With her superior skills and competitive determination, she appears primed for long-lasting dominance as she continues honing her craft. Waters possesses the raw ability to become the most accomplished women's singles player ever.
Though dominant, Waters has suffered occasional defeats. Her losses in major events over the past two years came against Parris Todd (June 2022), Catherine Parenteau (March 2023) and Tyra Black (August 2023).
But these rare setbacks have only seemed to fuel Waters' motivation. She has returned from each loss with renewed focus and intensity.
At just 16, Anna Leigh Waters has already achieved more than most pros do in a career. If she maintains her meteoric rise, she could end up cementing her status as the greatest of all time.
