09:45 - 🎉 Tyson's Birthday Trip to Vegas and the Start of a New Journey with JOOLA Pickleball

We jetted off to Vegas early in the week a couple of weeks back for a photo and video shoot with my new brand sponsor, Joola. There's been a lot of buzz around it, so spending the entire day with the Joola team, especially Tom, was awesome. Despite the initial fear of change after eight years with Selkirk, I now feel a strong sense of clarity and trust in the Joola team. We even discussed the upcoming release of my signature paddle called Magnus, derived from Latin and Greek names, symbolizing the skilled gladiator in the arena and greatness.

During the content day, Tom shared some funny moments, including giving me advice on a video pose. We also touched upon the Alpha version of the Magnus paddle and the anticipated release in a couple of months, with a giveaway offering a signed Joola hat and early notification for the paddle debut.

Shifting gears, Tyson reflected on his journey with Selkirk for the past eight years. It was a tough decision to part ways, but he believed it's the right move for both parties. He explored the growth of Selkirk, acknowledging their success and the positive impact we've had on each other. The decision stemmed from the evolution of The McGuffin brand and the direction Selkirk is heading. "It's a win-win, and I'm grateful for the experience," stated McGuffin.

Tyson delved into the content creation aspect and how it has become crucial for athletes in building their brands. Sharing personal stories and connecting with fans on a deeper level has been a game-changer. He commended Selkirk for their achievements, especially in fostering young talent and expanding into different areas.

Transitioning to my early days with Selkirk, he reminisced about encountering their paddles at a tournament in 2015. Fast forward to 2016, where he played in his first WAB Pro tournament, eventually becoming a brand ambassador for Selkirk. The journey included initial struggles, but the support and opportunities from Selkirk led to multiple accomplishments and the most electrifying man in sports title by Barstool.

As we bid farewell to Selkirk and look forward to the next chapter with Joola, Tyson expressed gratitude, love, and well wishes for my former team. The podcast segment ended on a note of excitement for the upcoming adventures and chapters ahead.
