Pro Pickleball Teen Anna Leigh Waters Makes Sports History Again Winning The PPA Takeya Showcase Singles Title
NEWPORT BEACH, CA (August 10, 2021) -- Delray Beach based fourteen year old Anna Leigh Waters made sports history again Sunday at the Professional Pickleball Association (PPA) Takeya Showcase $90K Payout held at The Tennis & Pickleball Club at Newport Beach, CA winning the Pro Women’s Single Title over Catherine Parenteau, 26, in a thrilling 5 game match: 11-3, 8-11, 9-11, 11-6, 11-2 (Full Match)
Anna Leigh is the youngest to win a Professional Pickleball Singles title.
Anna Leigh and her mother Leigh Waters, “the mother/daughter duo” (#TeamWaters) won the 2019 Margaritaville USA Pickleball National Championships Pro Women’s Doubles title in Indian Wells, CA. At 12 years 10 months, Anna Leigh became the youngest athlete to win a professional championship.
In June, Anna Leigh lost a 5 game Pro Women's Singles Final match to Lea Jansen, 29, at the PPA Orange County Cup in San Clemente, CA: 8-11,10-12,11-8,11-7,11-8 (Watch Highlights). Last week, Lea and Anna Leigh played in the first round of the Takeya Showcase. Anna Leigh won the match: 11-3, 11-4

The TeamWaters Pickleball Story Began in 2017
“The mother/daughter duo picked up the sport back in 2017 when they evacuated their home in Florida due to Hurricane Irma and stayed with Leigh’s parents for a couple of weeks.
