Zane Navratil Discusses the Promising Future of Jack Munro in Professional Pickleball
In the ever-evolving world of professional pickleball, new talents are constantly emerging, ready to make their mark on the sport. One name that’s been gaining attention is Jack Munro. In a recent conversation during the PPA Las Vegas Pickleball Cup Women's Singles Bronze Medal match between Salome Devidze and Lacy Schneemann, top player and commentator Zane Navratil shared his thoughts on Munro's potential to break into the upper echelons of pickleball, specifically the MLP Premier League. Navratil’s insights provide a fascinating glimpse into what makes Munro a player to watch in the coming years. Below is a Q&A session where Navratil delves into Munro's strengths, challenges, and the journey ahead. (Watch Clip)

Q: Jim Kloss: Give me a non-MLP Premier player who’s going to be Premier next year.
A: Zane Navratil: Oh, that’s a good question.
Q: Jim Kloss: Another way to ask it—tell me somebody who’s not a top 20 player who’s going to be a top 20 player.
A: Zane Navratil: I like Jack Munro a lot, so I think there’s a decent chance that the Chicago Slice team gets pulled up to the Premier League and they secure a top four finish. That would make him a Premier player, but even beyond that, I’m going to say Jack Munro. He’s got weapons, he’s got smarts, and he’s got work ethic. I play with him pretty regularly over in Austin, and I see the way that he thinks about the game and the way that he grinds. I’m buying Junior Mint stock, as they’re saying.
Q: Jim Kloss: That’s interesting to say about Jack because I was really high on him at the time of the MLP draft, and I wouldn’t say I’ve soured on him, but the one thing I’ve noticed is I’d like to see more power from his forehand. He’s got a great backhand.
A: Zane Navratil: I think Jack is still figuring out how to put all the pieces together in matches. We see it in practice where he is a top 10 player, but in matches, it’s not always the same yet. He’s figuring out how to implement it.
Summary:
In a recent discussion, top pickleball player Zane Navratil highlighted Jack Munro as a rising star with the potential to break into the MLP Premier League. Navratil praised Munro's intelligence, work ethic, and on-court weapons, noting that he frequently plays with Munro in Austin and sees firsthand how he approaches the game. While Munro is still working on translating his practice performance into match success, Navratil is confident that Munro has what it takes to become a top 20 player. Despite some concerns about Munro’s forehand power, Navratil believes that as Munro continues to refine his game, he will become a significant force in professional pickleball.
